J.L.Thompsons yard number 555 in 1926. This was built for the Silver Line founded by Stanley and John Thompson, members of the J.L.Thompson Shipbuilding family. This ship had one of the very early Doxford "Oil" engines, a 680L4. It may have had more than one subsequent name, but the only one I have listed is Tjisondari. The Silver Line had a number of ships built on the Wear at a time when orders were very scarce. As welcome as the orders were, they caused significant cash flow difficulties for Thompsons, because the engines were not to be paid for till ten years after the ship was built.
