The PORT QUEBEC was completed in November 1939 by J. L. Thompson and Sons Ltd., Sunderland for Port Line Ltd. and almost immediately was requisitioned by The Admiralty for service as a minelayer. In 1945 the ship was renamed DEER SOUND when The Admiralty converted her to a repair ship.It was not until December 1947 that she was returned to Port Line as PORT QUEBEC. In 1968 the ship was broken up at Kaohsiung.
