One of two Sulzer engines by Wallsend Slipway for Swan Hunter's Port Huon in 1927. this is the port side engine.. For the technically minded, notice the four faced crosshead guides. The engines produced about 3000 BHP at 100 RPM. 600mm bore, 1200mm stroke. These were a series of Wallsend engines with electrically driven superchargers, replacing the traditional scavenge pumps. The ship achieved 14.5 knots. The man bottom left gives an idea of scale. Notice the cranes in the background.

Nice bit of draughtsmanship pre Cad Cam. Sulzer SD72 drive for indicating device for "Sugar Producer" by Hall Russell in 1957.
The first form of Cad Cam appeared in 1957 as PRONTO but it was later before it became commercially available, so we might well say "Look at that, a drawing by a human that's every bit as good as modern machines can do." Not as quickly and not as manipulative admittedly but quality, accuracy, skill and patience nevertheless.
