Thanks for posting these. I've often wondered about Whites. The late Patrick Thompson, the last of the Thompson shipbuilders, married a Sarah White from Tyneside and I'd always suspected that she might have been connected to some ship concern. Do you have any information about the company?

The Hebburn Lad & I swapped various emails about this company a couple of years back. I wonder if I can still find them.

Not found them yet, but I seem to remember that Whites held a patent for specialist fuel injectors or lean burn equipment. There was another advert relating to the re-engining of one of the big liners. Where's Kevin when you need him?

Were these White engines not a subject of an article in 'Record' a while back?

Just found my Record 16, and there it is, just as you say, what a typically excellent article from Focus. I even made notes in the margins and forgot that I had ever read it. That's what becomes of having too much stuff in your attic.
