ATLANTIC CITY of the Leeds Shipping Co Ltd was built by Doxford & Sons in 1941. Sold and renamed ACHILLET in 1962.

As this was in a batch of Blyth photos, she may be in Blyth

Don't know where it is Dave, but its not Blyth.

I must admit I would have gone for the earlier Atlantic City with regard to George's Picture but on very close inspection they are both the same ship.

With this Atlantic City hitting the water in 1941 it meant 3 ships having borne the name Atlantic City were at sea together albeit now under different names and flags.

3 - This Doxford y662 built 1941, on 165859, sank 25 Feb 1971
2 - Ropner y533 built 1920, on 140863, sunk 17 July 1944*
1 - Ropner y467 built 1912, on132861, wrecked 4 Nov 1950

The 2nd* listed was in 1940 named Hiyama Maru and sunk by the US submarine USS Guardfish SS 217 off Western Luzon 17 July 1944. Other dates and fates are incorrect.
