Built as the BRITISH DEFENDER in 1950 by Doxfords.

Renamed: 65 EL FLAMINGO

Broken up at Bruges 1982

My photos in Middlesbrough Dock in mid-1967. She was laid-up there for quite a while as I recall.

She was of course converted to a sand dredger as EL FLAMINGO.

Interesting subsequent history from Bill Harvey.
1965-Sold to the Trustees Secretaries Ltd (F C Strick & Co (NCL) Ltd Managers and renamed EL FLAMINGO.

1969- Converted into a self-unloading suction/hopper dredger with bottom doors.

1970- Sold to J Murphy & Sons Ltd. London.
1970- Sold to Transworld Marine trailers Ltd, Liberia.

1972- Sold to Marcon (RMC) Ltd. (J Murphy & Sons Ltd Mgrs) London.

2.2.1982- Sold to Belcon Shipping & Trading Company Ltd, London and then to Bruges Scheepslopperij for Demolition.
10.2.1982- Arrived Bruges in tow from London.

5,845 Gross. 7,345 Dwt.
