I was on the BELLOC (3rd/E) Port corner 2nd deck up from main deck, called the winking bridge front becauce I was classed as junior officer so I could only have one window (ship side and not on the bridge front)a 3ft. day bed and a 6ft.desk and shared toilet and yet they heightened the funel so the colours looked right.(good old Vestey). The modern "Vele" dericks were one man operation but when taken ER store it required a full turn out to rig up the union purchase dericks aft with their winches on top of crew cabins and because N0.4's single pull "MacGregor" hatches covers folded up against the bridge front, great when working cargo, a left over when the original SD14's did not have mast houses even though most of them had mast houses they did not change the plans even though they changed the bow shape to try and make them look modern.A little thought goes along way.
