Ridleys tug Maximus again off the Tyne commissioners quay swinging the Bergen lines Leda.
Maximus was the second of Ridleys diesel tugs from Mutzelfeldwerf Yard in Cuxhaven and sister tug to the Impetus, but her top bridge was improved before delivery.

Hi Dennis

That's a nice picture of Maximus heading upriver and never seen a Palm line tanker before!

Mike, they had 2 or 3 from memory, palm oil tankers, I think this one might be MAKURDI PALM 1953 ex TEMA PALM in 1961, or otherwise MAKENI PALM 1951 ex BRITISH ROVER in 1961.

Two more MAXIMUSes (MAXIMI?)

Comparing Pictures in Laurence Dunn and Paul Heaton's Book on Palm Line the Tanker is the MAKURDI PALM (In Fleet 1960-1969)

Built as the TEMA PALM in 1953 by A. G. Weser, Bremerhaven for Olhandel und Transport GmbH, Hamburg as a Vegetable Oil Tanker.
Transferred to Palm Line in 1960, re MAKURDI PALM.
1969. Sold to Empresa Naviera Santa, Lima, Peru and renamed SANTAMAR.
1976 Broken Up.

Palm Line (Founded 1949) seem to have had Four Tankers, CONGONIAN which became OPOBO PALM, MATADIAN which became MATADI PALM, and the Haverton Hill Built MATADI PALM (2) 1970.
