I was sent the following extract from the RNLI "List of Rewards" by Tom Patterson.
It covers the 7th & 8th of January 1918 and two rescues by the lifeboat CAROLINE at Blakeney, Norfolk.
There is a well publicised grounding of the JOFFRE in 1925 off Bolt Head in South-Devon but this is the first time I have heard about this incident.
It is not covered in Proud's book.
JOFFRE survived the incident as did the GENERAL HAVELOCK as far as I can see.
