In the afternoon of Feb 23, 2018, the "Megalochari 12" was in collision with the tug "Karapipperis 16", 139 gt (Imo: 8410213)
during the start of a towing operation of the tanker "Eko IX" (MMSI: 239893400) in the port of Patras. The accident
caused a crack in the hull of the "Karapipperis 16" with ensuing water ingress at the starboard side stern. There was no
marine pollution. From the relevant Port Authority of Patras, the "Karapipperis 16" was detainend until the damages
were repaired and the seaworthiness certificate was presented by the classification society.
The "Megalochari 12" berthed in Thessaloniki on Feb 26 at 7 a.m., the ""Karapipperis 16" was
berthed in Piraeus.
