Looks like I will have to have another look at my Ian Allan book of Pylons in Great Britain and their locations. Reminds me of a time when I was watching 'Play Away' on television with my lad when the Female presenter was playing a game of where is this Town by doing a mime and making a switching action on her Hip when after a few guesses a young Cub shouted out Ar?nal:o to which the embarrassed presenter shut the game down quickly and gave the answer Ipswich. Cheers Paul that settles that then, good job it was not abroad :D

Certainly the Funnel looks to be a variation of the Magnus Group/Paul Magnus symbol and she looks in a reasonable state compared to her previous owners.

Yes you are absolutely right and I cringe every time we watch the BBC News down here:

The North is Leeds max
The North East is Hull maximum
The North West is Manchester
Newcastle is almost North pole area
Carlisle is in Scotland

Last week the Shields ferry was mentioned moving to the fish quay in Newcastle to attract visitors ????

Now I know what 'Senior Moments' really mean :)

I was on the M.O.G. at Bellerophon.
After hours of research and sleepless nightsI have found that this interloper of a French Pylon was introduced into England by a French Energy Company, disgraceful behaviour on their part, God knows what Ian Allan would have thought about its introduction into our Countryside, they will be wanting us to accept their rubbish Red as a decent drink rather than a paint stripper. ;)

Couple of pics from Janis Blower of the Shields Gazette, many moons ago.... " The Crew of the then-new Tyne Tug MAXIMUS.

Janis retired a few years back but was a true Maritime Journalist who knew one end of a ship from another and did'nt call an Aircraft Carrier a Battleship!!
