A comment from Coasters Remembered by PilotDan

Hi Guys,,
Had the Pleasure of taking her down the River in the early hours of this morning, The crew remained on board thoughout her stay at Howdendyke and kept all machinery ect in tip-top condition even though they knew of her fate,Very sorry to see her go, after all shes only 53 years old, I have taken her to Howdendyke on about one hundred and fifty trips, the crews were exceptional and we always had a laugh and good time on board,,

Regards to all Dan.........

Nice thing to say about her.

However she's still got a way to go. Currently in the North Sea about 27 miles West of Aldeburgh.

ETA 1430 ish!

Here she is at Howdendyke on 1st April, just days before she sailed for Ghent. She is still on the Ghent 'Ships in Port' list but is not showing on AIS. There is a big breaking yard at Ghent and I suspect that she has may well have been broken up.

Our Belgian friend indicated she had gone to a lay-by berth as the breaker's berth was fully occupied, so perhaps she has yet to move across.

Here she is in Sifferdok, Gent, just round the corner from the Van Heyghen yard on 18/5/2013. She was waiting her turn with THAMES. The yard is currently busy with the hulls of the large LNG tanker TELLIER, still there from last year, pilot vessel LOODSBOOT 6, warship BOUVET, and in the basin, British research vessel DISCOVERY and French trawler NORDIC II, both still fairly complete.

Also here is a picture of her as KABEDI under arrest at Otterham Quay on 20/4/1991. She had been arrested 12/1990 and later sold to Bruges breakers by the Admiralty Marshall. She left under tow on 16/5/1991 but it’s not clear if she actually got to Bruges because she was towed away from Zeebrugge on 4/6/1991 having been sold to Viking Shipping, Antigua & Barbuda flag and renamed CEMKING. (Alongside her is TIDAL TRADER ex IRWELL TRADER built by Yorkshire D.D. in 1977.)

Unless they find a buyer for her in the meantime.......

Thanks for the update.
