Hi all, I have just joined this site today, and I worked on the Ghanaian gunboats in Swans.I was the foreman fitter in charge of the removal of all machinery and weapons, renewal of all pipework and then the refitting of all the machinery and weapons after completion of the overhauls. When vessels were completed I was on all the sea trials. Whilst on trials onboard Yogaga we had a problem with the Port propeller and had to drydock in TDE at South Shields. and while on the second sea trial a connecting rod came through the crankcase and the engine needed to be removed and returned to MTU in Southern Germany. When everything was completed satisfactorily I sailed as guarantee engineer back to Ghana via stops in Plymouth,Gibraltar,Las Palmas, Dakar, Monrovia and finally Sekondi where all the families of the crew were there to greet there menfolk. Colin Marshall was guarantee onboard Dzata for the trip. The trip was not uneventful but that is another story. Micky.

Micky Brent and Colin Marshall there's two names i haven't heard for a good few years. Hope you're keeping well Mick.

Hi Tynebouy, I am still on the go and enjoying retirement in Blyth. Since Leaving Swans after delivering HMS Richmond worked for Tyne Tees Cammell Lairds until it closed then in and out of A&P and Amec until I got an offer I could not refuse a job at Grand Bahama Shipyard where I spent 8 wonderful years.
