Hello Ron, yes it seems a long time since we looked at puffers, am still fighting the years. re Marton Cross, one thing that puzzled me, the small GA plan in August 1983 issue of Motor Ship magazine appears to show top on the wheelhouse, then some views on the TM site shows no top, then others with what looks like makeshift white colored "lid" which still leaves a gap between the top of the windows and this cover, then others with what looks like a proper top.
Any body who can confirm any of this.
BR
Jim

When the Marton Cross was built it had a totally enclosed wheelhouse as
shown on the earlier pictures.

As the Port expanded and tankers using the port increased in
size Marton Cross had difficulties getting under the Flare of the bow
to make fast and on more than one occasion knocked out the side of
the wheelhouse. The result was the smaller wheelhouse as in the
later photos. As with towage by laws the ship is responsible
for any damage Shell were none to pleased to be charged
for a new wheelhouse time after time.

Many thanks for your reply, via the photos it was all a bit confusing!
