This vessel was powered by an 8? Cylinder Crossley two stroke diesel ( Bridge Control) and a break from the steam powered Hoppers. Two Gennies both Gardners of different power outputs. The big change was the Hopper Doors which used hydraulics rams to open and close ( the rams can be seen in the photographs) Hydraulics are fine in the marine environment bearing in mind salt water corrosion however even a pin prick of a leak can leave you with what seems like half of the Saudi oil production on the deck.
