Attached is a Google Earth image showing the current positions of buoys from the Humber Bridge to Whitton.

Thanks very much for posting this, had not realised the channel was moving back towards the South Ferriby side, good news for photographers if it keeps coming .... but the downstream end of Reed's Island is right down opposite our old photo stand below the village, when I saw it a few weeks ago, so seems unlikely that we will get the ships back close in there.

Yes, looking back my last photograph of a vessel passing close to South Ferriby was five years ago tomorrow. Incidentally she was the LOMUR, a Neap House regular recently conspicuous by her absence. Notice to Mariners No.30/2007 indicates that the major channel move took place 24-25th May (I did try to attach it but .pdf was not allowed?).

A change in favour of the photographer would be welcome as most of the recent channel moves have not been good news for those with cameras. In particular the Skitter Channel deprives us of what used to be excellent shots of vessels to and from New Holland from passing Hull in the late afternoon.

Looks good as we went up there last weekend. I cant see the shipping get much nearer the South bank for a while. about a month ago we passed over the Humber bridge at LW Springs and the sand bank from Reeds Island is now continuous to under the Humber bridge following the course of the shoreline. The Northern edge of Reeds Island is a sheer face at present also. Having said that, if the channel breaks through near Winteringham the flow could scour out the South passage.

Looking again, No30 seems even closer on the Hessle side and the Middle Whitton similarly off Brough, must have a recce trip!

30 hasn't been moved for a while George, 29 moved recently slightly NW of where it was. Brough area changes almost daily

Attached the revised positions of the Upper Humber marks following moves on 10th an 12th July of the 33A, Middle Whitton, 32B, Upper Whitton and 32C.

Further buoy moves are scheduled for tomorrow, this time for Cappers West, 31, Lower Whitton and 32. The 32 is edgeing towards Chalderness. Hopefully this will continue and present photo opportunities there once again.
