During the construction period the Drypool Group became financially unstable and shortly after the launch of the Beverley yard No. 1568 – EXEGARTH, it collapsed. Special arrangements had to be made with the receivers to enable the completion of EXEGARTH and as the second vessel, yard No. 1569 – EYEGARTH, was at a very early stage of prefabrication it was deemed unworkable to proceed any further. During March 1976 yard No. 1569 was officially cancelled.
In the interim period however, Cory Towage had invited fresh tenders for construction of this vessel and awarded the contract to Richards at Lowestoft.
The fabricated steel and machinery were then transferred from Beverley to their Gt. Yarmouth yard to be constructed as Richards yard No. 531.
