the Leander class frigate Galatea launched by Swan Hunter 23 May 1963 seen fitting out on 16 November 1963 - the ferry landing provided a good viewpoint.

And alongside her Yard Number 2001 GAELIC FERRY of the Atlantic Steam Navigation Co Ltd. 2756 Gross.

Keel Laid. 26th March 1963.
Launched. 3rd October 1963.
Trials Date. 30th December 1963.
Hand Over. 3rd January 1964.

Neptune Yard.

Gaelic Ferry - Keel to Completion in just over 9 months - but then we did not have the support of critical path scheduling, time risk analysis, project managers, CAD, IT, HR, KPIs, etc., etc..... - we didn't know how unfortunate we were!

It took me a while to find these - from Wallsend ferry landing on 23 May 1963 (a Thursday - must have been the Whitsun holiday week - I couldn't possibly have been playing hookey!)
