After being contacted by a gentleman who resides on the other side of the world, regarding one of my photo's, he mentioned that he has tried without success to register with NEM. Hopefully this situation can be resolved
In the meantime here is one of his pictures which he is very happy to have posted on the site

Malcolm Kirk served his apprenticeship at the St Peters Works of Hawthorn Leslie and went on to become an engine test engineer.
He took this photo of the last engine to be built at the works, in the mid 1980's. At that time Hawthorn Leslie (Engs) Ltd. had become half of Clark Hawthorn, under British Shipbuilders
From memory Malcolm states that the engine was a Sulzer 6RND68M, 9,900BHP at full load speed 150RPM
He feels the picture is quite historical, and of course is very nostalgic for him, and could be of interest to others

Malcolm's father, Eric Kirk, was Chief Draughtsman in the machinery installation department of Austin Pickersgill, Sunderland
He was a friend and colleague of John Lingwood and a member of the Tyneside branch of the World Ship Society during the 1980's/90's, after he had retired
When Eric passed away John 'inherited' his quite large collection of books and ship models

I'm sure Malcolm looks forward to being welcomed into the fold of NEM
