This fine photo of FEADON taken, at Portreath, was sent to me by Kevin.

Grinkle Park of course was the mansion & grounds built by Charles Mark Palmer of Palmers' of Jarrow fame.
It is between Guisborough and Whitby and close to Palmer's iron stone quarries.

Lovely scene indeed, and I hadn't known of the Palmer connection to Grinkle Park (and can't afford to eat there anyway ....).

I wonder if her first employment was with iron ore from Port Mulgrave or Skinningrove up to the Tyne.

Well, George, I'll be one up on you ... but only because our son and his fiance have chosen Grinkle Park for their wedding reception when they get married early next year!

Likewise, I did not know of the Palmer shipping connection. Certainly I did not know their influence extended into Yorkshire - mines at Staithes, Port Mulgrave (constructed by Palmers) and Grinkle!

She was running regularly from Port Mulgrave to the Tyne in the 1870's. The shipping press of the time recorded these voyages as to and from Rosedale.

Seemingly Port Mulgrave was originally known as Far Rosedale but was renamed Port Mulgrave to avoid confusion with the Rosedale Ironworks on the North York Moors.
