I was 3rd Mate in this ship 1981-82 when managed by Souter Shipping, when we changed her name to "Mercator". Largely on a Petrobras charter on the Brazilian coast with petroleum products and AvGas. Did a trip back to the Med (Tripoli),drydock in Livorno then via Sardinia to Gran Canaria where I left her I've seen elsewhere the reference to "Mercator G"--she was never so-named, went straight from "Stolt Lion" to "Mercator." She was a wreck, leaked like a sieve, steam pumps in a deep pump room, and old fashioned compared to the other Stolt chemical tankers we operated (Stolts Sheaf,Crown and Castle)
