Not certain when the above advert appeared but here is a weird one they built. Or rather there were a pair and they were fabricated...

they were that weird sequential yard numbers were not allocated, just a cursory T1 and T2.

Chant 61 amply illustrated their lack of stability, sinking all on her own off Normandy 8 June 1944.

Considering their rapid build some of the Steel Chants lasted remarkably well being built mainly out of flat plate (curves cost money) well into their Post War careers, others unfortunately did not fair so well due to stability problems, along with Chant 60 Chant 63 rolled over on her maiden voyage sailing South in the North Sea.
Built I believe on the same principle as the wooden hulled Fairmiles in that their equipment (Engines, Pumps etc) were not sent directly to the Shipbuilders from the Makers but sent to a Central Holding Store and then sent out to the various Shipbuilders who were designated to do the build(s).
Certainly a cracking photo of the pair of Chants E28, just waiting for their Anchors?
