L5 heading down the Tyne about march 1918 on trials manned by Swan Hunters builders trials crew with no ensign. Still in builders undercoat with a few interesting features visible.

Palmers cranes in the background and a large pair of sheer legs, any idea whose?
The merchant alongside is sporting an extensive but somewhat baffling dazzle scheme, especially amidships, so reason for application works here. Tick.
L5 has her as built very compact conning tower, the later gun extension was huge by comparison although originally the first L class 1-8 actually carried 1 x 3", not the 4" as claimed as per following file...

The sheer legs belonged to Palmers Engine Works at Jarrow.
