Are my records correct?
I have her becoming BIJOY F35 as here, then renamed DHALESHWARI F36 later
Then LEEDS CASTLE became BIJOY F35
But I also have the former DULVERTON as BIJOY F35 in same navy.
Help!

F35 is Bijoy, F36 Dhaleswari the Castle names are a little uncertain but I think I can resolve which is which when I find some pics of the Castles under their original names. Dulverton M35 became the Lithuanian Kurvis M53.

Dumbarton Castle had an all black topmast (LC back of mast by exhausts only), when in A&Ps dock the Eastern ship had the black topmast and was named Bijoy F35 the other was F36 Dhaleswari - per A&P photo. I do not believe the names were changed. Jane`s Fighting Ships confirms this and I after much viewing have convinced myself also.

Bijoy returning from her ill advised early trials on 20 October 2010 when she nearly ran aground on South Shields Pier. Note black top mast - why Kevin` view of her departure seems too show grey I cannot fathom.

Well, it can't have been repainted at sea on the same day .... still something wrong here ... and would they have moved the ensign while at sea?

She must have done as i've just checked my photos and she passed me heading out at 08:10am on 20.10.10 without black mast and passed me on return at 12:30pm 20.10.10 with black mast.

How strange.

And only one bottle of sherry between the two sightings. Or was that four sightings.

The one that passed me outbound on 20/10 at 7.35 was F35 Bijoy - black topmast. She had an electrical problem and did not get far, at this point she had her ensign properly in the sea position on the mast. Tugs got her in tow and she passed inbound at 11 am as in the pic I posted. They wiould have been too busy to do any painting - perhaps it was a cunning version of the Indian rope trick.
