Sailed on her when she was Northumbria, the weekend training/cruise/jaunt was usually up to Berwick, some years later I am fairly sure she ran aground off Berwick, refloated but very badly damaged, patched up and went into Reserve (for spare parts?) till scrapped.

Just found the article by nighttrucker in regards to the above grounding!

Nothumbria was not much harmed in her grounding and continued as the Tyne Division sea tender until August 1972.

Thanks Buggins, so much for my memory although in my defence I was in the Far East at the time.
