Named to honour the 2nd WW2 Royal Navy Flower class corvette HMS Godetia, pendant K226, manned by Belgians for much of her wartime service.

Still running after fifty-one years, albeit a little careworn – leaving the Tyne this afternoon.

Godetia is an annual herbaceous flower named for the Swiss botanist C H Godet, died 1879.

Talking of annuals, this Godetia has been continuously flowering for 55 years, very impressive by any stretch..

Certainly is impressive, nice Bow Line, even though her Upperworks have altered including a larger pair of 'Golf' Balls she still looks modern by today's standards. Sometimes feel that the RN disposes of some of the Fleet far too early, we could have kept the 'Plover' going for another 50years. ;) Has she ever visited the Tees bearing in mind the first WW2 Godetia was built by Smiths on the Tees?
