Betwa was last of the 3 Type 41 anti aircraft frigates the Indian navy operated.
As with sister Beas, this pair was ordered as new construction by India from Vickers on the Tyne.
Betwa yno 163, ld 29-5-1957, l 15-5-1959, c 18-12-1960
Beas yno 156, ld 28-11-1956, l 9-10-1958, c 24-5-1960
The 1st of their trio was Brahmaputra, ordered as HMS Panther, and purchased after launching,
constructed by John Brown, yno 680, ld 20-10-1955, l 15-3-1957, c 28-3-1958
Vickers did not build any of the 4 Type 41 for the RN, Leopard, Lynx, Puma, Jaguar.
Betwa, Beas and Brahmaputra are named for Indian rivers.
