In July 1965 a group of RN vessels, led by HMS Tiger, visited the Tyne. The first two pictures, taken from one of Strick's ships outfitting at Readheads, show Tiger's initial arrival at about 5.30 am. The third picture shows her re-entering the river at a more civilised time, after a "sea-day".

Do you have the names of the ships which were with Tiger on this visit to the Tyne Dennis ?

In fact Tiger had not long returned from an extensive trip around South America between 24 Sept - 2 Dec 1964 as flag of the Special squadron. Those involved were....
H.M.S. Tiger C20, Capt H.L.Lloyd. D.S.O., R.N. and flag of C-in-C S. Atlantic & S. America, Vice Admiral Sir Fitzroy Talbot. K.B.E., C.B., D.S.O*., R.N.
H.M.S. London D16, Capt J.C. Bartosik. D.S.C., R.N.
H.M.S. Lynx F27, Capt P.M. Austin., R.N. The only ship here actually attached to this station.
H.M.S. Penelope F127, Cdr J.L.N. Ommanney., R.N.
H.M.S. Odin S10, Lt Cdr R.H. Mann., R.N.
R.F.A. Wave Chief A265, Capt P.J. Mc Carthy. R.F.A.

When the squadron disbanded in December, Tiger and Penelope returned to the UK via Dakar. London took the Admiral and his staff to Simonstown with Lynx.

Good Morning Sean,
The group included Berwick, Dido, Onslaught and a Ton class. I can't recall any RFA. I'm not at home at the moment - I'll check my pictures when I get home for any more vessels.
