MINERVA (Monitor - M33)

I have received an enquiry from Hampshire Arts and Museums Service, as follows:

As you can see from this link http://www3.hants.gov.uk/m33.htm we know we acquired HMS Monitor 33 in Jan 1990 but the paperwork is sadly lacking. Other records have suggested it came from the Hartlepool Ship Restoration Co or the Hartlepool Preservation Trust. We would be grateful for any help tracking the ownership of the ship before handover to Hampshire County Council.

The MINERVA arrived in Hartlepool with the FOUDROYANT (TRINCOMALEE) during 1987 but very little work was done on her.
The Museums Service is hoping to establish actual ownership, presumably following sale by the Royal Navy, and their acquisition of her in 1990. The two restoration/preservation titles given above are both quoted in various websites - but which was the actual correct name for the Preservation body? Did they take on the ownership, or were they engaged on behalf of someone else?

Can anyone help?
