Purchased by the Admiralty on the 29th February 1952 but stayed on charter to Messageries Maritimes until December 1952.
Delivered to the Admiralty in March 1953.
25th April 1953 Renamed RESURGENT (ex CHANGCHOW) and chartered to Buries Markes.
July 1957. Returned to Admiralty Service.
August 1957. Taken in hand for conversion into an armament Stores Issuing Ship.
2nd August 1958. Conducts trials off the Tyne of Replenishment at Sea with HMS BLACKWOOD.
28th August, Conversion Copmpleted. (Assume, therefore that she was converted on the Tyne?? )
July 1963. Sailed UK to Far East in support of HMS VICTORIOUS. (A/C)
8th August 1965. Took part in the Clyde Royal Review.
18th August 1979. Arrived Rosyth for destore and lay-up for disposal.
18th March 1981. Sold to Davies & Newman Ltd, London for £189,000 on behalf of Asturamerican Shipping Co Panama for breaking up.
13th May 1981. Arrived Avilez where some of her upperworks were removed to lighten her.
15th May 1981. Arrived Gijon for final demolition.

Name Resurgent will return as first of 3 new RFA fleet solid support ships, name approved by C III R as are the next pair whose names are being kept hush hush in case they are never built, at least we know Agincourt is off the agenda. Resurgent is being constructed by Navantia, a Spanish outfit who recently acquired a controlling interest in the defunct H & W in Belfast and a couple of other yards including Appledore where the first bow section metalwork is being fabricated.

In the 1930's virtually the entire Spanish navy comprised British designed men of war, a few being lost in Europes nastiest 20th Century civil war which if you don't understand you will once you have read this, here's hoping they confine their nasty habits within their borders ... again all credits to the site in question, Warwick university.
