And not a successful one by all appearances George. Didn't get her feet wet.
She was in fact built by H & W Belfast, entered service as a Ton class minesweeper Aug 1957 doing the usual rounds of a Ton class. Nurton is a village in Staffs.
She paid off in 1964 for conversion to a minehunter, recommissioned Feb 1966, as such she was the last Ton class in active RN service when she paid off 3 Dec 1993.
In fog off Portland she collided with the new Hunt class Brocklesby 24 Feb 1983 and came off worse but despite her damage was towed to Rosyth for repair.
Dave, you are correct on both counts. 21 June 1995 she was sold to Pounds of Pompey for scrap, that company was in the throes of running down and disposal of the site, intersected by the M275 motorway as you approach the City from the North. She was then acquired by Dawn Premier Service who, as we can see in the images, dealt with her at Selby.
Thats all folks. Sean.
