Pattison & Atkinson

Postby Whickham » Sat Jun 08, 2013 7:57 am

I've been aware of an engine builder called Pattison & Atkinson (sometimes seen as Pattinson & Atkinson) of Newcastle. They seem to have been based in the area called Mushroom, which I think is at the bottom of the Ouseburn where the old Spillers Mill was on Newcastle Quay (ish). But this morning I came across a reference to them as a shipbuilder, see for example:
http://www.plimsollshipdata.org/pdffile ... 1b0897.pdf
and the vessel OFOTEN built as the KATZJARLOFF
Also see:

for a more complete history.
I presume that the hull was contracted out to one of the Tyne yards. Any thoughts as to where? Mitchell?
Or were they a shipbuilder?
I would appreciate your thoughts
Dave
