Salvesen Offshore Drilling Limited.

The first ship to be converted was the 1945 US Built SINGLE HITCH which was converted to become the DALMAHOY. (After the Golf Course.)

The PHILIPPE LD was purchased in May 1974 but as no yard was available for the conversion she traded as an Ore Carrier, hence the traditional Salvesen name SOUTRA.
She was to have been named after another Golf Course outside Edinburgh, GULLANE, but to Quote Graeme Somner this proved "unwieldy in some languages" and she was renamed DALKEITH.

"The two ships operated in many parts of the world, including Australia, India, the Middle East and the Med. but the market for such ships was very poor in the late 1970's and they incurred substantial losses. What had been hoped would be a major new activity for the company was reluctantly wound up with the sale of the two ships in 1979 and 1980"

If you're following the sequence closely, my next sighting after the DERWENTFIELD during my River Tyne trip of 27 June 1976 was my view above of the DALKEITH!
