North Shields Fishquay 1964

A murky day with the trawler Ben Strome, HMS Soberton and a tug on 27 May 1964. Quite a chane in the skyline with Tyne Brand Products where the present port operation building is sited.

Rather saddening getting on for 50 years later to find the BEN STROME still afloat, but derelict, near Ipswich on 12 October 2011, as the GRAMPIAN DAWN, outside of the equally derelict GRAMPIAN PRINCESS (ex LINDENLEA). It seems they had been there for many years initially intended for further conversion. They were still in Equasis in 2011, but now appear to have been removed ... but I don't know if the same applies to the remains of these redundant trawlers?
