In the Top Picture she is berthed at Fred Olsen's section of the Oslo/Bergen Quay, otherwise known as Tyne Commission Quay but now renamed Northumbrian Quay. The entrance to Albert Edward Dock is just in front of her bow.

The KRONPRINS FREDERIK was built at Elsinore in 1941 but not delivered to DFDS until the 25th May 1946.
3,895 Gross. 20.25 kts.
On the 19th April 1953 she was gutted by fire at Harwich, sunk but refloated and repaired, entering service again just of a year later on the 23rd April 1954.

She maintained the Summer, Esbjerg to Newcastle Service in 1964,65 and 66 then the Summer Esbjerg-Newcastle-Torshavn- Trangisvaag service in 1972, 73 and 74. She was laid-up at Esbjerg after a final Newcastle call on the 9th July 1974.

On the 10th March 1976 she was sold to the Arab Navigation Co, Suez and renamed PATRA.

Bad luck followed her and on the 24th December 1976 fire broke out on a voyage from Jeddah to Suez with Pilgrims. She eventually sank and 102 men were lost.

Maybee a wee bit further up, Pelaw?

The houses in the background are certainly Bill Quay.

There is a Swinging Basin further up off St Peter's. I think she used to swing off there and berth Bows Out, but its a long time ago.......................

I think that she's just passed Bill Quay and is approaching the bend at St. Anthony's. The red-brick building that was part of Harrisons is visible above the wheelhouse and the coal wagons on the horizon will be on their way to or from Pelaw Main Staith that was opposite the Naval Yard.
Regards, Dennis.
