Information from WSS publication DFDS 1866-1991.

PARKESTON: 2762gt, completed by A/S Helsingors Jernskibs-of Maskinbyggeri, Elsinore, and delivered 31.7.1925 to DFDS, Denmark. 8.9.1939 laid up at Frederikshavn; 23.4.1940 moved to Copenhagen; 20.1.1944 seized by Germans and later renamed PIONIER and used as a target vessel; 3.5.1945 in use as submarine depot ship, attacked by Allied aircraft, run aground and abandoned south of Fehmarn; 26.7.1945 arrived back at Copenhagen and returned to DFDS and reverted to name of PARKESTON; 1.5.1947 damaged by mine explosion while on voyage Elsinore-Esbjerg; 18.9.1964 sold and renamed AKER 2 for use as accommodation vessel for shipyard workers in Oslo; 8.1975 sold for demolition which commenced 15.9.1975 at Jernhavnen, Masnedo.

Although she was still in service by the time my interest started this was one of the regular dFDS ships I did not see.
