I appreciate the difference in size Patrick, doesn’t the Berth the Royal Yacht used to moor alongside take vessels of this size or is it full of out of work offshore vessels?
Often wondered what was in the Fort, there is of course still a possibility the remains? of one of the Ball Bearing Runners inside the Breakwater just below the Fort along with an old Boiler from a Trawler.
Aberdeen was as far as I am aware one of the few that had an earlier version of a Boilers in the Bow Suction Dredger.

Yes that’s her, must have been some “Draw” on that Funnel, I am presuming she was a Coal fired natural draught vessel when built, I wonder if she also had Four yes Four Triple Expansions on her like No1. Looks like she had two Condensers on her rather then one large one.

Ron, at 70000+ GRT she wouldn't even get through the piers let alone to the berth. There are no laid up rig boats nowadays, some may lay by for a few days until the next charter comes along but they usually sit at anchor.

There is not a ĺot at the Torry Batery - a cafe type place has opened (expensive and not the best coffee around) but at least there are toilets there now.

A friend who now lives up here has taken a photo of a boiler on the shoreline so there are bits around.

Thank God for Toilets even if you have to pay for expensive Coffee :D There must be something inside the Fort mound an Uncle was based there for a period of time during WW2 and used to fire projectiles at low flying German aircraft with a Steam Powered Bazooka type weapon. I have a photograph of the German Aircraft that crashed on to the Ice Rink somewhere. I need to change to my mobile to put it on the site.

Ron, fortunately the toilets are external to the cafe and free ;)

German Aircraft crashed into Aberdeen Ice Rink looks like a Heinkel 111
Must make a correction to my previous, the equipment that was fired was more like a Spigot Mortar rather than a Bazooka apparently the same steam powered equipment was fitted to Trawlers in WW2.
