SCOTTISH STAR: Lamport & Holt Line Ltd., 10174gt, completed Glasgow 12-1950.
1975 Kavo Yerakas, Greece, BU in Spain 5.8.79 (had been laid up since 1975)
Yes, from 1964 to 1965 her owners were Lamport & Holt. The WSS history BLUE STAR also reminds us that although this ship eventually served a full term of over 28 years she was one of several vessels which had the misfortune to be trapped in the Great Bitter Lakes from 6.6.1967 when the Suez Canal was blocked during the Arab-Israeli war. In 1969 she was declared a constructive total loss. It was not until May 1975 she was released. In the August she and her cargo were sold to Greek owners to become the KAVO YERAKAS. Other than discharging her cargo in Piraeus she was then laid up from 6.9.1975 until 25.6.1979 when she was sold to shipbreakers in Spain.
