Good to see AMERIQUE, I have a note of having seen here probably back in January 1960 on my first visit to the Tyne. She was ex French of course, built at Boulogne as BOULONNAIS in 1943. Not sure when Purdy got her but broken up in 1967.

Certainly listed with G R Purdy Trawlers Ltd. North Shields in July 1964. Official Number 300370 SN92. Call Sign GCHT. 128 Net, 293 Gross. HP stated as 550 IHP so presumably still Steam. Date of Build 1943 but rebuilt in 1949. Built France.
Confirming and adding to previous comments. It is possible she may have come to Purdy via Aberdeen as we also have AMERIQUE listed as A39. Confirmed as owned by Craig Stores (Aberdeen) Ltd and then transferred to North Shields.

Fair amount of information on AMERIQUE in Ron Wright's book on North Shields Trawlers.
In Brief:- She was transferred to Purdys in 1960 having lain idle at Aberdeen for three years having lost three crewmen overboard off the Faroe Islands. She was converted from Coal to Oil Burning and an oil tank had been fitted in her Hold without any partitions and in bad weather the oil movement used to cause her to roll up to 45 degrees either side, shipping water across her decks. After a 21 day trip to Icelandic Waters in December 1961 her then skipper gave up the sea and joined the River Police. She was scrapped in 1967, having been with Purdy's since 1960.
