James Rowan CEGB 2947 grt off the T C Q maybe near the drops that went when the ferry terminal was built?
Photo taken Spring Bank May 1965
Who was James Rowan? And who were Capt J M Donaldson, Charles H Merz, Charles Parsons, Dame Caroline Haslett ( I thought Haslett was something you ate),Harry Richardson, Oliver Bury,
Lord Citrine, Sir Alexander Kennedy, Sir Archibald Page, Sir John Snell, Sir Johnstone Wright, Sir Joseph Swan, Sir Leonard Pearce, Sir William Walker & W J H Wood?
And those in NTGB fleet David Pollock, Falconer Birks, Frederick John Evans, John Orwell Philips, Samuel Clegg, Sir David II,
Thomas Goulden, Thomas Hardie & Thomas Livesey?
At least SEGB named their fleet after their gas regions.

All involved somehow with power generation .... perhaps the most famous would be Charles Parsons.

JAMES ROWAN - General Secretary of the Electrical Trades Union from 1907 - 1940
Dame Caroline Haslett - Pioneering woman electrical engineer closely associated with the B.E.A. and did much to encourage women into the electricity and engineering profession. She also laid a cable all the way across the Channel, well the ship of that name did. You an indeed eat Haslett but probably not if I told you what went in it. Same goes for savaloys.
CLIFF QUAY now he sounds like a canny fella that would lend you 10 quid but he is actually a power station down at Ipswich.

No, udders don't enter the food chain as cows, when they are slaughtered after they have outgrown their milking life, go for use in the processing factories and end up in the likes of Fray Bentos pies.
