Olsen & Ugelstad - mystery!

Albert Weller slide, River Tyne:

Clearly, an Olsen & Ugelstad funnel but, so far as I can find, not one of their own directly owned fleet! The ship name seems to be double-, even triple-barrelled, and I can't find any of their ships for the 60s/70s period having, had, or gaining anything remotely similar. So, a charter job, maybe? Help!!

We had the Sirefjell on ore charter during the 60's and she certainly did discharge on the Tyne.

Looks like she is flying the Greek flag to me
Possibly a renaming and they have not got to the funnel yet ?
Yes possibly a charter, Townsend Car Ferries Ltd had a bulk carrier built in Sweden which was chartered to Olsen & Ugelstad and was named VARANGEFJELL and registered in Dover. Managed by Hudson Steamship

Well found Tony, but as MARIA BACOLITSA she was renamed only from early 1980 it seems and was lost by early March, so this is a rare photo of her

History: 1962 BARBARA - 1968 BARKAND - 1969 MARIANNA - 1980 MARIA BACOLITSA

I think the slide by Albert may have been taken circa September 1979, so that would fit the likely time frame if she was in for a while, albeit it seems she already had her new name painted up by then. She had also had her hull fully repainted as photos of her under other names all show her with a grey hull. Whatever, if the handing over under her new name was very early 1980 she had time to sail out to Brazil and then back to the Black Sea where she was lost.

Thanks, Tony, an interesting identification indeed.
