O.N. 180239. 54g. 0n. 65.0 x 17.0 x 7.4 feet.
C.2-cyl. (12½” and 26” x 18”) by the North Eastern Marine Engineering Company (1938) Ltd., Sunderland. Boiler by Barclay, Curle and Co. Ltd., Whiteinch, Glasgow. Coal fuel. 260 IHP. 8½ knots.
Post 1965: 4-cyl. 4 SCSA made in 1963 by Lister, Blackstone and Company Ltd., Dursley. 406bhp. 298Kw. 9 knots.
18.3.1944: (Ministry Job No. A/MS/851) launched as T.I.D. 75 by Richard Dunston Ltd., Thorne (Yard No. 484) for the Ministry of War Transport, London, (Stanley Lancelot Tottle, Hull, manager at the Ministry).
6.4.1944: Registered at Hull, vessel No.44 of 1944. c/s MKLV
18.1944: Completed.
24.4.1944: Allocated to miscellaneous naval duties.
10.11.1944: Allocated to the Portsmouth Pool.
4.1946: Owners restyled as the Ministry of Transport, (Stanley Lancelot Tottle, Hull, manager at the Ministry).
17.4.1946: Allocated to Portland.
12.8.1948: Permanently transferred to The Admiralty for general port duties under the King’s Harbour Master.
1951: Under Portsmouth Command.
12.12.1952: British Mercantile Registry belatedly closed, consequent of transfer to the Admiralty.
10.10.1960: Sold to Henry George Pounds, Portsmouth.
1965: Resold to Husband's Shipyards Ltd., Marchwood, re-engined and renamed ADHERENCE.
18.10.1996: Purchased covertly by H.M. Customs and Excise and believed unoffically renamed ADHERENCE II for use in a drug smuggling investigation.
22.10.1996: Sailed as a decoy vessel to rendezvous in Bay of Biscay with yacht FATA MORGANA, believed to be carrying cannabis.
23.10.1996: Fuel supply problems necessitated the temporary transfer of an engineer, by helicopter from HMS CHATHAM.
24.10.1996: ADHERANCE II rendezvoused with FATA MORGANA and 145 bales of 'cargo' were transferred to the tug next day.
25.10.1996: During her homeward passage in rough seas, took on water and at 15:40UTC, sank at 47.27N., 08.43W., in the Bay of Biscay. The crew of four were rescued from their dinghy by mv HORNCLIFF (12,887g./92).
