Thought I would just mention TID 59 lady of Menai is still at Fleetwood docks 16.01.2016 She has been lived on for many years as a houseboat. Next wk she is going to be beached to have some much needed work done to her which could take quite some time. As soon as I can I will show you all a picture of her. The way I understand it is ABP refused to lift her out the water saying she weighed 100T which I am certain can not be true. If anyone knows how much this boat originally weighed or has more information on her I would love them to respond. I believe this boat will be going up for sale soon as a project.

Thanks for the update Nigel (and welcome), I would guess maybe 50 ton or so 'as built' but can understand caution about lifting anything like this with no certain weight known. Beaching probably the safest option!

George, Do you remember when they tried to lift the GOLDEN CROSS out of the water at Hartlepool. If my memory serves me correctly they had to put her back ASAP as her frames were beginning to buckle. So ABP may be thinking back to that......as well.

The comprehensive history from Tidesman reminded me that I had seen this tug at Port Penrhyn on 19 June 1980 at which time she still carried the name LADY MENAI (although it appears any name on her lifebelts had been painted over?).

Tidesman seems to have missed out the date of her becoming LADY MENAI, presumably 1980 where he has added the OF.

Thanks George; Tweaked.

When copying and pasting from my manuscript, I had deleted the line when deleting a photo.
